My Bellator Bantamweight Rankings

Continuing my 8 part series on producing unofficial rankings for Bellator MMA, today I present the bantamweight division.

Bellator recently crowned a new champion at bantamweight as their former champion Kyoji Horiguchi was forced to vacate the title from injuries. The had the vacant title on the line last month when Juan Archuleta defeated Patchy Mix by decision. Archuleta was part of the Featherweight World Grand Prix and fought against featherweight champ Patricio Pitbull, losing by decision. Prior to that fight, Archuleta had gone 18-0 over a five year period. Archuleta is in a good place at bantamweight building a big name for himself as the Bellator champion.

Sergio Pettis recently cemented himself as the number one contender at bantamweight in Bellator. Pettis is of course a former UFC fighter competing at both flyweight and bantamweight, and brother of former champion Anthony Pettis. Sergio has competed and won against some of the best in the world including Brandon Moreno and Joseph Benavidez. Pettis also competed against Henry Cejudo, but ended up losing that fight by decision. Pettis made his way over to Bellator winning his debut over Alfred Khashakyan. If you don't recognize the name Alfred Kashakyan, he is the fighter Sean O'Malley defeated on the Contender Series to earn his UFC contract. Pettis followed this up in a main event for Bellator's first event upon returning from the pandemic shutdowns and event cancellations. Pettis won this main event with a decision victory over Ricky Bandejas to earn himself that number one spot at Bantamweight.

I expect to see Juan Archuleta defend his bantamweight title early next year against Sergio Pettis.

As always, I must say, I am not affiliated with Bellator MMA in anyway. My list is unofficial and may differ from any official rankings by Bellator MMA. I have never been able to find any published official rankings from Bellator. I have actually been informed by a Russian fan that there does exist a rankings for Bellator MMA on Russian social media page called VK. I've never heard of VK before that. I do not know if they are official from Bellator MMA, or it is unofficial. I would have to assume unofficial since it is not on the Bellator MMA website. Regardless, I will continue to publish my own rankings. I also have never been able to find continually updated fan made, unofficial rankings. So I have made my own, and will continue to update them as Bellator holds events.

Stay tuned for tomorrow when I publish my rankings for the bantamweight division in Bellator.
